Although Kate was born in Yorkshire she has spent many years in London and on the Isle of Wight.  She now lives in Cowes.  Her studio faces north east across the Solent providing an endless source of inspiration.

Being by the sea, she is inspired by both the visual and auditory stimuli and thus armed she endeavours to portray the movement and sensation of the elements and of yachts racing.  As a result, her work portrays a personal rather than representational likeness.

All her paintings are constructed using palette knives whereby she is able to layer the oil paint.  This creates greater movement and texture.  The paintings are then completed with a coloured glazing process which has become her signature.

In essence, her work depicts an abstract expressionism, a contemporary and unique view of the 'noise' of sailing.
